SAS enables children and adolescents with developmental disabilities and severe behavioral challenges to achieve independence. We promote self-advocacy and family inclusion. We believe every child deserves a meaningful life of love, laughter, learning, dreams, and friendship regardless of disability. A 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, we closely serve over 100 children and their families affected by developmental and intellectual challenges.
In 1999, three women with a shared history of working with individuals with developmental disabilities founded Supporting Alternative Solutions. Sue Farmer, Ana Parra, and Stacey Brown recognized a need for residential services that emphasized teaching community interaction skills for children that were respectful and supportive, not just custodial in nature. Their commitment and desire to support individuals with developmental disabilities and their belief that all people deserve to live with respect and dignity lead them to create Supporting Alternative Solutions.
