Galva Kids First

History and Operation:
Our day care center was established in 1996 by a group of concerned Galva citizens and Kewanee Council for Child Care and Development, Inc., and was then merged with the YMCA of Kewanee, another not-for-profit organization in 2001. Our site was reformed in May of 2006 to become Galva Kids First, an early care and educational center. Our site offers infant and toddler care, a preschool only program, before/after school care and a summer day camp in addition to its orginal day care services to preschool-aged children, to children of all races and abilites.

The site is operated and governed by a Board of Directors that meet monthly. The members of the Board are voluntary group from a variety of background and occupational experiences. Their purpose is to set policy, provide guidance, and oversee the operation of Kids First.

Our Mission:

We are committed to affordable, accessible, high quality early care and education services and to increase public awareness of the importance of early childhood and thier impact on children's success throughout life. Kids First is dedicated to providing our children and families the best, highest qulaity services. We eagerly pursue current research on best practices and continually incorporate what we learn into our programs. We do everything we can to build partnerships within the community and with our families and to ensure our children grow up healthy, nutured, safe and well educated.
