Founded in 1982, Chicago Children's Museum (CCM) is now second most-visited children's museums in the country, and the sixth most visited cultural attraction in Chicago. In 2006, CCM hosted nearly 800,000 total visitors (480,000 to the museum and 291,000 to the Kids on the Fly and Play It Safe exhibits at O'Hare Airport). CCM's primary audience is children from birth to age 10, their families and educators.
The mission of Chicago Children's Museum is to create a community where play and learning connect. Since its inception, CCM has been known and respected for its playful experiences that give children opportunities to learn, face challenges and develop new understandings of the world around them.
