For every child, a place to play: Every child! Every ability! Everywhere!

Through the CVS All Kids Can program, CVS Caremark is committed to making life easier for children with disabilities and raising awareness about the importance of inclusion. That's why CVS Caremark's support of the National Center for Boundless Playgrounds makes perfect sense.

Boundless Playgrounds is the first national nonprofit dedicated to opening the world of play to children of all abilities. The organization has brought much-needed attention to the fact that one in every ten children in the United States - an estimated six million - has a disability preventing them from using or enjoying traditional playgrounds. At the heart of Boundless Playgrounds' work is the belief that play is an essential component of healthy development for children of all abilities - all children deserve and need a place to play.

With goals and missions that are so closely aligned, the CVS All Kids Can program and Boundless Playgrounds are working together to provide barrier-free playgrounds to more communities, beginning with projects in Florida, which were announced in 2006:

Freedom Park, Macfarlane Park, Tampa Henry Grady Elementary School, Tampa Perrine Park, Palmetto Bay Unity Park, Miami Jorge Mas Canosa (Riverside) Park, Miami Willie Webb Park, Lauderdale Lakes Mills Pond Park, Fort Lauderdale Florence C. Hardy Park, Fort Lauderdale

About Boundless Playgrounds
At the heart of Boundless Playgrounds' mission is the belief that playing matters for children of all abilities. Experts in pediatrics and early childhood education agree that, through play, children develop language skills, decision-making abilities, social strategies, and physical, sensory, and cognitive strengths. That's why playgrounds should be planned accordingly - as both fun places to explore and laboratories for learning. Each area of a Boundless Playground reinforces children's predictable play behaviors while also providing rigor and challenge. Each child can progress at his or her own pace and move to the next most important thing he or she needs to learn.

Boundless Playgrounds works to increase public awareness of the compelling need for playgrounds where children of all abilities can play and learn together. Boundless Playgrounds provides leadership, training, coaching, technical assistance and support services to promote play environments that are barrier-free and provide children of all abilities with developmental advantage. The organization partners with individuals, communities, schools, park departments, local and state governments, hospitals, businesses, civic organizations, foundations and other non-profits.

Today, more than 4.5 million children of all abilities play and learn together at more than 80 Boundless Playgrounds in 21 states in the United States. Successful statewide initiatives in Connecticut, Florida, Maryland and Michigan are helping establish multiple Boundless Playgrounds projects.

At Boundless Playgrounds, we want to create a world where children of all abilities grow up playing and learning together. We are grateful to CVS/pharmacy and the CVS Caremark Charitable Trust, who share our mission of developing barrier-free playgrounds where children with disabilities can play side by side with their typically able peers. With the help of CVS and the Trust, hundreds of thousands of children will be able to experience the joy of playing at Boundless Playgrounds across the country.
